Morley Weather Data

This site is located in Morley, Leeds. The altitude is 160 m above sea level.

Data collected includes:

Maximum and minimum temperatures for previous 24 hours

Current atmospheric pressure in mB

Rainfall for previous 24 hours

An electronic thermometer is located on the outside window sill on the north side of the property (it gets very little sun). Atmospheric pressure is measured electronically and the rainfall was measured using a calibrated plastic cone in the garden.

The rainfall is fairly accurate as I have compared it with the Environment Agency's raingauge at Farnley Hall which is only a few miles away at a similar altitude. I am not so sure about the temperature data as it is not in a ideal position (the standard 5 feet from the ground and 20 feet from the nearest building)! However, it is should be ok if comparing with other data from this site.

In 2004 I got an automatic tipping bucket raingauge. It only measures in 1mm increments so occasionally it tips on a relatively dry day when most of the rain in that 1mm fell the previous day!
